These elegantly hand-molded two-piece 4" diameter PVC ColloPorts are expressly designed for car subwoofer applications. The ColloPort 4" adjustable subwoofer port features air-turbulence reducing dual flares for maximum
efficiency and an adjustable joining ring for maximum versatility. Inclusion of the inside flare is designed to eliminate both "chuffing"
and harmonic distortion at all but the most extreme listening levels
(i.e. if you are listening at volume levels where port noise is
apparent either you are deaf - or soon will be!). The internal intake flare is smaller than the exterior exhaust flare to enable
easy installation of the port after the cabinet has been built and finished. The joining ring enables easy tuning for your specific needs/enclosure space. Each vehicle has differing amounts of available space therefore, having the ability to adjust your port length will allow you to achieve the best possible tuning for your specific situation.
You could make ports yourself but like most
people, you'll probably be itching to get your project up and running ASAP - so
why bother? Using an adjustable ColloPort 4" saves you the hassle of making flaring molds
which are time-consuming,
messy and tricky (not to mention frustrating when your
PVC pipe splits...). Investing in an adjustable ColloPort 4" also saves you the added time and expense
of purchasing yet more PVC pipe when things go wrong. Best of all, no
mess, no fuss ColloPorts are Australian designed and made.

Note: While every effort is made to ensure uniform port sizes, ColloPorts recommends waiting until you have received your ports before machining the opening of your enclosure.
Installation
The ports need to be glued into position because there is not enough room for
screws. PVC
segments are best glued together with quick setting epoxy resin (e.g. 5 minute Araldite) however, silicone or hot-melt glue can also be used. If reuse of the port (for other applications) is desired hot-melt glue is recommended since it is easier to clean off than silicone.
This photo
shows the panel surface rebated and chamfered to allow flush mounting. If you
are using a one-piece port, the hole needs to be opened up right to the edge of
a 5mm wide rebate.
Another
method would be to use a rollover bit and push it below the surface by the
thickness of the flare.
